THE STORY

This Upstairs, Front Seat picture hits different, somehow. It has a darker, more dramatic, busier colour field. there’s so much rushing movement but that contrasts with the unmovable, solid behemoth of the Westin in the middle.
Does anyone else see a huge kind of creature sitting in front of the hotel?

The sides are like alternative reality versions of the Grattan parliament and the walls of trinity. These are LUAS and a coach gliding past.

I love the festooning light and the bizarre shapes you can pick out all over the picture.

This picture feels epic, important, central. It’s got a lot of the Upstairs elements - condensation, rain drip shapes, electrifying light blasts.

When I look at this, so many memories of that part of town come flooding back. Travelling with purpose to get in out the inclement weather. Probably heading to Mulligans down to the right, or the Palace over on the left….
